Papps donate to auction at Lewes Historical Society Fall Gala Sept. 11

August 30, 2015

Gary and Lorraine Papp of the Essential Chef/Palate Catering are providing one of the live auction items for the Lewes Historical Society’s Fall Gala Friday, Sept. 11. In addition to catering the event, the Papps are providing an elegant, multi-course seated dinner for 12 at the society’s historic Burton-Ingram House for one lucky winner.

Well-known in the region from their many years at the Buttery, the Papps create flavorful, fresh, seasonal menus that are in demand for catered events large and small.

“We’re really glad that we can do this for an organization that gives so much back to the community,” said Gary Papp. The Papps recently opened Palate Café in the Shops at Seacoast (Safeway) shopping center on Route One. The restaurant is open year-round, offering casual, full-service dining as well as gourmet to-go.

Also on the auction block is a low-digit Delaware “C” tag (C-8384), valued up to $3,000. The tag is eligible to be remade into a classic black and white enamel plate. In addition, Atlantic Jewelry has donated a pair of beautiful sterling, peridot, and citrine earrings that will be raffled during the event.

“We’re grateful to have so much local support,” said Mike DiPaolo, Lewes Historical Society executive director. The Lewes Historical Society promotes and advocates the preservation, interpretation and cultural enrichment of the Lewes region through museum exhibits, educational programs, historical research, and publications. Reservations for the Fall Gala, which is underwritten by Baywood Greens, may be made by calling the society office at 302-645-7670.
