Paul N. Mitchell, devoted to family

Paul N. Mitchell, 82, of Laurel passed away at home in the care of his family Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018.  He was born Dec. 15, 1936, to the late Norman I. and Minnie Ethel Phillips Mitchell in Gumboro. 

He married his beloved wife, Barbara Ann Littleton, Aug. 20, 1955, and together they raised four children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren in 63 years of marriage.  He worked as a carpenter, truck driver, and farmer. He raced stock cars, and was a fan of racing.  He loved camping with his family, and his hobbies included restoring old Ford tractors and golf carts.  He was very devoted to his family.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; and his children: Greg, Guy (Marlene), Beverly and Bonnie Collins (Keith).  His grandchildren are: Shelly Robinson (Jimmy), Scott Mitchell (Stephanie), Stacey Long (Matt), Taylor Burroughs (Robbie), Kyle Tubbs (Tricia), Carly Collins and Colby Collins.  His great-grandchildren are: Brandon Mitchell, Jimjim Robinson and MacKenzie Long.  He is also survived by his beloved little dog Peanut.

A viewing, visitation, and funeral service in celebration of his life will be held Sunday, Jan. 6, beginning with the visitation at noon until 1 p.m.  The funeral service is 1 p.m., with the Rev. Elizabeth Smack officiating.

Interment will follow at Carey’s Cemetery in Millsboro.  Flowers are accepted, or in lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
