P.E.O. Chapter L scholarship goes to Sussex Academy graduate

P.E.O. Chapter L, Lewes recently awarded a $750 college scholarship to Alissa Swann, a 2022 graduate of Sussex Academy.

This award was given in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement in high school, and her leadership in school and the community. Swann was a leader in founding and participating on the Sussex Academy girls’ cross country and track teams. She has also led and participated in community outreach, charitable and environmental activities.

Swann has matriculated to Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Md., where she is slated to be a member of the intercollegiate women’s cross country and track teams. 

The P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded Jan. 21, 1869, at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is a philanthropic and educational organization focused on bringing women increased opportunities for higher education. There are approximately 6,000 local PEO chapters in the United States and Canada with nearly 240,000 active members. Chapter L, Lewes, was organized in May 1999.
