The New York City-based real estate investment trust has 253 properties, with 40 million square feet of building space in 49 states and Puerto Rico. The Rehoboth property is the company’s only one in Delaware.
As part of the grand opening, Brandywine Valley SPCA will unveil a new cat adoption center.
“This new adoption center has been designed to bring people and cats together with a bond that lasts a lifetime,” said Adam Lamb, Brandywine’s CEO, in a prepared statement. “We appreciate the support of PetSmart Charities and the store leadership to help us place more homeless cats with forever families.”
According to a Feb. 6 press release, the center will house up to 12 adoptable cats at any given time within a community room and individual housing units. The society expects the center to find homes for about 100 homeless cats per year.
According to the PetSmart website, the company employs approximately 55,000 people and operates more than 1,600 pet stores in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
PetSmart store hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday.
