Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971
United States

For 30 years, George Phippin has been building custom cabinets for homes on Delmarva. Cape Region residents can now view Phippin's work at a newly opened 2,800-square-foot showroom just south of Rehoboth Beach.

"I've been looking to open here for more than five years," Phippin said. "When this location became available I jumped on it."

Phippin's Cabinetry & Renovations already has showrooms in Salisbury and Hebron, Md. Phippin also plans to open a new location on Route 13 in Salisbury.

He said he was interested in a Rehoboth location to be closer to Cape Region clients and to expand his market.

"I enjoy the people and the beach," Phippin said. "I wanted to be closer to clients to give them better service."

Besides his own designs, Phippin also sells manufactured cabinets, tile and countertops.

"I try to be a one-stop shop for customers," he said.

When he retired from the U.S. Navy in 1972, Phippin was already doing renovation work. He started Phippin's cabinets in 1974 and has been growing the business ever since.

Phippin's offers a free design service and will develop custom plans for customers. The south Rehoboth location, formerly Beitzel Cabinet & Millwork, employs nine people.

"Anything that can be made out of wood we can do," Phippin said. "We fabricate and install. We can go in and remove the old cabinets and put in the new ones."

Phippin also works with commercial and institutional clients, including Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

"We see different trends in cabinets. Right now people are looking for flat-panel or Shaker-style cabinets," Phippin said. "White is still really popular, but some people want different stains."

Phippin renovated the space to feature a tile center, several kitchen and office designs, as well as access to Phippin's full line of products and features.

"Residents can browse, see what they like and talk to someone," Phippin said. "We pride ourselves on service and quality."

A grand opening is planned for the spring. The showroom is open Monday through Friday during the winter from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays by appointment.
