October 20, 2020

This photograph from Oct. 20, 1923, shows pumpkins piled on the grounds of the H.P. Cannon cannery near Bridgeville. According to the 2017 federal Agricultural Census, Delaware farmers produced $36,000,000 worth of vegetables, melons, and sweet potatoes that year - a category which includes pumpkins.
