November 12, 2021

No. 5 seed Polytech (9-6-1) defeated No. 4 Sussex Tech 2-1 Nov. 11, to move into the semifinals of the DIAA state tournament.

The Panthers will play top-seeded Cape Henlopen (15-2) Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the DE Turf complex in Frederica. Cape shut out No. 8 Dover 8-0.

The game was a back-and-forth white-knuckler, as both teams had opportunities to score. The Ravens struck first on a deflection by Tori Adams off a blast from Karli Penrod in the third quarter.

The Panthers responded with a shot by Elizabeth Szell from Madison Lloyd. Kylee LaVere hit the game-winner off a pass from Lloyd.

“The girls had a great season,” said Ravens coach Dom Scott. “I’m really proud of them.”
