The power of 'Amazing Grace' hymn will be topic Sept. 3 in Lewes
St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will present How Sweet the Sound: The Power of Amazing Grace at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 3, as the last session of the Summer Spirituality Series.
Attendees will learn all about "Amazing Grace." This presentation will explore the background and variations of this famous hymn in an attempt to identify why it touches so many people. There will be time for discussion.
The program is presented by a group interested in addressing issues of racism and discrimination, both personally and communally. Called Facing Up To Racism in Ourselves, Our Church and Our Community, this group is part of a larger program, Practical Approaches to Crosscultural Transformation, a mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Delaware. The co-leaders of Facing Up To Racism are Jo Klinge and Carole Somers, parishioners at St. Peter’s.
St. Peter's Parish Hall is at 211 Mulberry St. in Lewes. The presentation is free and open to the public. Donations are gratefully accepted. Fellowship and ice cream cones will follow the presentation.
