Pro-pride protestors support Goolee’s drag brunch
A large crowd of pro-pride protestors gathered in support of a drag show brunch at Goolee’s Grille in Rehoboth Beach July 20.
The protest was supposed to be a response to a rosary rally planned by St. Ann Parish in Bethany Beach, but no one from the church showed up.
St. Ann’s issued a statement the day before claiming the rally was never endorsed by the parish or the Diocese of Wilmington.
The protestors gathered on both sides of First Street. At one point, Rehoboth Beach police blocked the street south of Rehoboth Avenue as the crowd grew.
Speakers said their rally was aimed at sending a message of love and inclusion.
Various signs read, “Hashbrowns Not Hate,” “Judge Less, Love More” and “Brunch is Blessed.”
