The Take Two Drama Club of Sussex Central High School will present “Ride the Cyclone,” with book, music and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell, at 7 p.m., Friday, May 15, and 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, May 16, at the Sussex Central campus, 26044 Patriots Way, Georgetown.
“This show is a cult classic that the kids have wanted to do for years,” said David Warick, Take Two advisor. “The audience learns about the weird, sad and often funny stories of six parochial school choir kids trapped in a purgatory-like carnival setting and overseen by a mysterious fortune-telling machine. If it sounds strange, it is – wonderfully strange!"
Tickets may be purchased via cash at the door or online at bit.ly/3OT9wHK.
“Audiences will also really be delighted with Mr. Thomas Oxbrough's all-new pit band, along with his amazing musical direction of our talented young singers," said Warick.
"Ride the Cyclone" is thematically sophisticated but appropriate for adults, teens and tweens. The "beyond the grave" and psychological content may be frightening to younger children and emotionally sensitive audience members. Strobing lights, fog and other special effects will also be used, so sensorially challenged audience members should be advised to exercise personal judgment and caution.
All proceeds from the show are directly used to further the nonprofit mission of Take Two Drama Club to promote theater education and production in Sussex County.
