Public to discuss education funding Sept. 25

The Funding of Public Education in Delaware will be the topic of a forum and panel discussion set for 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25, in Sussex County Council chambers in Georgetown. 

Topics to be covered include how funds flow into local schools, how Delaware tax dollars are distributed to fund public education, what school referendums are and why they are necessary, and what educational funding issues are currently before the state Legislature. 

Expert panelists will be Delaware Secretary of Education Dr. Susan Bunting; Dr. Chuck Longfellow, DOE associate secretary for operations; Dr. Kevin Carson, senior fellow, University of Delaware Institute for Public Education; and Rep. Ruth Briggs King, R-Georgetown. 

Presentations will be followed by questions from the audience. 

The program is co-sponsored and organized by members of the League of Women Voters of Sussex County and the American Association of University Women.
