February 19, 2020

The Quilts of Valor Foundation presented two Millsboro veterans with Quilts of Valor Feb. 7 in the office of recipient and State Farm Agent Juan Johnson in Dagsboro. Johnson served in the Marine Corps from 1992-98.

The other recipient was Joseph Harman, Johnson’s uncle. Harman served in the U.S. Navy for 26 years abroad the USS Enterprise alongside the late John McCain. Both recipients attended Sussex Central High School.

During the presentation, Quilts of Valor Delaware State Coordinator Dana Mason read a three-part message to the recipients. “First, we honor you for your service, for your willingness to lay down your life for your country. Second, we thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your valor in serving our nation. Last, we hope your quilt provides healing, peace and comfort.”

The quilts were made by Delmarvalous Quilters from Georgetown and Serendipity, with assistance from active-duty Air Force members from Dover Air Base.
