Raymond Charles Jung, fun-spirited soul

October 2, 2023

Raymond Charles Jung, 87, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. He was born Oct. 29, 1935, in Baltimore, Md., to the late John and Katherine Jung (nee Buehner).

A beloved husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, co-worker, and friend, Ray will forever be remembered for his unconditional love, generosity, and loyalty to family and friends. Ray’s intelligence, leadership, precision, and strong work ethic were greatly admired by all. He had an amazing memory and was a fun-spirited soul who loved to entertain people with an extensive repertoire of jokes. He had the uncanny ability to tell a joke on demand, on any subject!

Ray was previously married to the late Una Jung (nee McMahan) for 35 years and raised two daughters. Ray married Margaret Anne Jung in February 1996; they enjoyed 29 happy years together.

Ray graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1953 and earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 1966.

Ray spent his whole career with the mechanical contracting firm, Poole and Kent Company, in Baltimore, Md., starting in an entry-level position as a steamfitter apprentice and rising to his final position of executive vice president, treasurer and corporate secretary.

After retirement from Poole and Kent in 2002, Ray and Anne lived in Williamsburg, Va., for six years, then in Milton for 15 years.

Ray is survived by his wife, Margaret Anne Jung; his daughters, Lisa Jung-King and Dianne Jung Sothoron; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Katherine Garrity. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one brother, John Jung Jr.; and a sister, Hilda Faulkner.

A memorial mass will be held in late fall at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, Milton, with a Celebration of Life following.

In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the church. In memo, put in memory of Ray Jung.
