Reading the Cape Gazette at the Gallarus Oratory in Ireland

January 28, 2023

In September, Cape Gazette readers Chris and Alysann Pettinati of Broadkill Beach traveled to Ireland. They stayed in Dingle, an active fishing harbor town, and made many stops along the Wild Atlantic Way, including the Cliffs of Moher and Skellig Island. Here they are shown while checking out the Gallarus Oratory located in Ballydavid, County Kerry, Ireland. It is the best preserved early Christian church in Ireland representing the apogee of dry-stone corbelling, using techniques first developed by Neolithic tomb makers.
