Reading the Cape Gazette in Rovaniemi, Finland, Santa Claus’s official home town

March 31, 2019

In January, Kevin & Camilla Conlon of Rehoboth Beach traveled to the Lapland, above the Arctic Circle in Finland & Norway, with their good friends Yaron and Raya Reshef from Israel and Lewes. They traveled to Rovaniemi to visit the official home town of Santa Claus and to read their favorite newspaper. The foursome met Santa Claus, but missed Rudolph, he was still resting from his December travels.

In addition, the friends hiked in the Finland wilderness to see frozen waterfalls, took a reindeer sleighride and viewed amazing Fjords in Northern Norway. While driving from Rovaniemi to Saariselka, they saw a beautiful “Sun Dog” which is a rare event when two or three suns can actually be seen in the sky at the same time due to the refraction of sunlight by ice crystals in the atmosphere. Although it was -21C some days, it was a memorable trip for the friends!
