Rebecca Davidson exhibit to open at CAMP Rehoboth Dec. 3

A solo master’s thesis exhibition by Rebecca Davidson titled Hineni will open with a reception from 5 to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3, at at CAMP Rehoboth.

Davidson is a contemporary abstract expressionist painter currently pursuing a master of fine arts degree in painting from Savannah College of Art & Design. Davidson’s approach explores motion, color and texture, creating monumental, layered paintings where the pigments and forms dance together. 

With Hineni, Davidson shouts “Here I am!” This body of work speaks from the crossroads of their own personal identity: being queer, multiethnic, Jewish and autistic.

“There is an overwhelming sense of isolation that accompanies the compounded intersectionality in a multifaceted identity – an experience akin to the life of a nomad, a life of restless searching and otherness,” said Davidson.

Over the past years, the artist’s work has evolved from an exploration of the greater human experience to an observation of their own internal landscape. Over time, Davidson began creating work that both battles with and celebrates the nuances and conflicting experiences within their own person.

Davidson’s work has been shown in numerous juried exhibitions across the U.S., and the artist is a previous exhibitor at CAMP Rehoboth. “We are thrilled to host this talented artist’s exhibition in the Elkins-Archibald Atrium,” said Leslie Sinclair, CAMP Rehoboth arts director. “We are privileged to provide the venue for this moving and meaningful collection, the culmination of the artist’s pursuit of an advanced degree.”

Hineni provides an opportunity for viewers to understand and connect with a person who may or may not be different from them. CAMP Rehoboth is at 37 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. The art is also available for viewing and purchase on the CAMP Rehoboth website gallery.
