Registration due Nov. 14 for first local Mah Jonng tournament

St. George's Episcopal Chapel in Harbeson will host its first local Mah Jonng tournament from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12. Mah Jonng is an ancient Oriental card game which dates back many centuries in China and Japan, and dates back to 1920 in the United States. Seasoned Mah Jonng players will want to save the date.

A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for participants. Door prizes and prizes for tournament winners will also be provided.

Proceeds will go to the St. George’s Chapel scholarship fund for high school seniors, Camp Arrowhead, Boys & Girls Clubs, the All Saints’ Parish mental health ministry, the Community Resource Center and homeless shelters, and the Food Bank of Delaware. The St. George’s Chapel ECW, or Episcopal Church Women, is planning this event.

Preregistration is required. To reserve a place, a check for $30 made out to St. George’s Mah Jonng Tournament needs to be received by Saturday, Nov. 14, at  All Saints’ Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
