Rehoboth’s bandstand a rallying place for many decades

May 19, 2020

When the Reopen Delaware organization took its activism to the bandstand in Rehoboth Beach last Saturday, it gathered at a location that has been ground zero in the resort city for many decades. The bandstand has been the site of joyful live entertainment and concerts, political rallies and demonstrations, somber and dignified Memorial Day ceremonies, Easter promenade festivities, storm of March 1962 destruction, Christmas celebrations and manger scenes, morning coffee, and evening french fries and drinks.

This postcard shows the bandstand setting in about 1970.
