The Rehoboth Art League held its Annual Young at Art reception March 16 at its historic campus in Henlopen Acres.
Art teachers from 24 private and public schools in Sussex County each submitted 10 works of art by their students, to be displayed and judged for cash awards and scholarships. Being selected for this exhibition is an honor.
Awards were sponsored by the Village Improvement Association of Rehoboth, the Howard Pyle Studio Group, and the Delaware College of Art and Design in Wilmington.

Beacon Middle School seventh-grade student Delaney Noel received the Picasso-O’Keeffe Young Artist Award for her dragon, made of rainbow loop bands. She is holding the book that inspired her project.

Evie Criswell from Cape Henlopen High School received a pre-college scholarship to Delaware College of Art and Design. This award allows students to attend a two-week course of art instruction.

Sophia Jean Baptiste from Lulu Ross Elementary won a James Kenneth Derrickson Memorial Scholarship for her tempura paint figure. This scholarship allows students to take art classes at the Rehoboth Art League for one year, tuition free.

Charles Gibson III, “Trey,” a first-grader from Lord Baltimore Elementary, was awarded an honorable mention cash prize from the Howard Pyle Studio Group for his collage and tempura city scene.

Mack Lawson, a fourth-grader at North Georgetown Elementary, received a James Kenneth Derrickson Memorial Scholarship for his watercolor piece.

Nathanael Taylor, an eighth-grade student from Delmarva Christian School, won an Award of Excellence cash prize from the Village Improvement Association for his copper wire and wood-burning artwork.

Jerson Velasquez Ascencio received a pre-college scholarship to Delaware College of Art and Design for his colored pencil still life.

Debora Williams, a student at East Millsboro Elementary, received a James Kenneth Derrickson Memorial Scholarship for her interpretation of the WWII fire control towers in chalk pastel.

Sara Alban, an eighth-grade student at Southern Delaware School of the Arts, won a Picasso-O’Keeffe Aspiring Young Artist cash award for her figurative oil pastel.

Torin Ryan from Seaford Middle School received a James Kenneth Derrickson Memorial Scholarship for his graphite still life.

Will Ciabattoni, a sixth-grade student from The Jefferson School, won an honorable mention Howard Pyle Studio Group cash award for his three-dimensional painting.
