July 4, 2020

Contour Press recently announced the release of “The Ocean Raiders,” Jackson Coppley’s second book in the Nicholas Foxe adventure series.

“The Ocean Raiders” takes the reader to the ancient city of Venice, recently under attack from the COVID-19 pandemic, and now from the threat of rising seas. Foxe arrives in Venice to follow an old flame. Instead of romance, he becomes involved in a search for a hidden machine which holds the secret to vast power, including holding back the high floods. The machine also has the capacity to destroy Venice. It’s a race to see who gets to it first.

As he did for his other books, Coppley travels extensively to the places he writes about. Against the backdrop of colorful Venice and a thrilling murder mystery, the reader will lunch at the Gritti Palace, pay a visit to the local police at the Questura, and hear from the staff responsible for the flood-control program. Along the way, there are bad people who want to access the machine first and are willing to kill for it.

Coppley’s first book in the Nicholas Foxe adventure series, “The Code Hunters,” takes the reader from the caves of Carlsbad, N.M., to Rome and to the Castel del Monte in the southernmost region of Italy. The journey reveals the existence of an ancient people of superior intellect and the promise of extraordinary knowledge.

Coppley draws his stories from a sophisticated knowledge of technology and a keen sense of adventure. His resume includes a career with world communications and technology companies, and the launching of what the press called revolutionary software. In addition to The Nicholas Foxe adventure series, Coppley has authored “Leaving Lisa,” a novel about dealing with grief, and a book of short stories. He and his wife Ellen live in Rehoboth Beach.
