The Rehoboth Art League will bring its sixth annual Rehoboth Beach Arts Festival to Grove Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 16, kicking of the organization’s summer programming. The event, presented in partnership with the City of Rehoboth Beach, is free to attend and will be held rain or shine.
The art league will showcase 34 artists at this year’s event, all of whom are RAL members and were juried into the show based on the merit of their work. This year’s participants include Sussex County locals, and creatives traveling from as far away as Florida and Minnesota. Original work for sale at the festival spans mediums including ceramics, wood, oil painting, photography, jewelry and glass. The RAL website features a complete list of artists participating in the show.
Featured artist Elizabeth Sabine, based in Ocean County, N.J., has donated an original oil painting valued at $3,500 to be raffled off at the festival. Sabine’s work is largely influenced by the impressionist movement, and she finds inspiration in the colors of nature, which are intensified in her paintings. Raffle tickets can be purchased in advance at the RAL gallery, 12 Dodds Lane, Henlopen Acres, as well as on event day at RAL’s membership tent. Proceeds from the raffle support the art league’s education and exhibition programming. The drawing will take place after the festival closes May 16.
There is no event-designated parking for the Rehoboth Beach Arts Festival. Parking meters and permits will be in effect as of Friday, May 15. Grove Park is adjacent to the area’s bike trail and is also accessible by water at the city’s public dock just behind the Rehoboth Beach Museum.
