Four members of the Rehoboth Beach Barbell Club recently competed at the annual Rosedale Open Olympic Weightlifting meet in Rosedale, Md. Led by coach Brandon Davis, the team had three podium finishes among some of the region's top Olympic weightlifting athletes.
Competing for the first time, 14-year old Alaina Strates went 5/6 and recorded a 90 kg total for the day in the women's 71 kg class. Nicole Ickes placed third in the Women's Open 87 kg class with a 121 kg total. With a 212 kg total, Jacob Latta-Morrissette took first in the Men's Open 102 kg class.
Highlighting the weekend was 15-year-old Jacob Booros lifting against older and more experienced athletes in the Men's Open 61 kg division. In just his second time on the platform, Jacob secured third place by going 5/6 and recording a 115 kg total.
