A Rehoboth Beach man, 81, died Sept. 19 from injuries he sustained in a Sept. 2 motorcycle crash on Route 1, police said.
Richard Bland was riding a 2010 Honda Cruiser at 5:42 p.m. in the left northbound lane of Coastal Highway just north of Camelot Drive, police said, when for unknown reasons he failed to stop and struck the rear of a black 2018 Jeep Cherokee that was stopped in the left lane. As a result of the impact, police said, Bland was partially ejected and came to rest in the middle of the left lane.
Bland was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where he was admitted for critical injuries. On Sept. 19, police said, he died from injuries sustained in the crash. The operator of the Jeep, a 55-year-old man from Randolph, N.J., was not injured.
