Rehoboth Beach Museum to host interpretive exhibit Oct. 23-24

The Clear Space Theatre Company is joining forces with the Rehoboth Beach Museum to bring one of its exhibits to life. Four actors will guide visitors through the museum’s newest exhibit, Captain John and Sarah Avery: A 17th Century Family on Delaware’s Frontier, as they take on the roles of this real-life family.

Using artifacts as a point of reference, the exhibit examines the shifting economic and cultural traditions of English and Dutch colonists, and their interaction with Native American communities, illuminating the joys and hardships of daily life in Sussex County in the late 1600s and early 1700s.

Four actors from the Clear Space Theatre Company will guide visitors through this Colonial experience, complete with original character monologues written by Clear Space Executive Director Ken Skrzesz. Clear Space veteran Dick Pack will portray Captain John, the family patriarch, alongside his real-life wife Liz Rowe, who will portray matriarch and schoolteacher Sarah Avery. Students Katharine Moshaver and Hunter Graves will play daughter Jemimah and servant William Gosse, respectively. These performers will be stationed throughout the museum and will perform for each group of visitors as they are led through the exhibit.

Clear Space will guide visitors through the exhibit from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 23 and 24, at the Rehoboth Beach Museum, 511 Rehoboth Ave. Admission is by donation only.
