Rehoboth Beach Post Office as it appeared in 1940

March 9, 2021

The United States Postal service has been in the news across the country recently.  That timeliness sent us searching for historic photographs of local post offices.

This card, showing Rehoboth Beach Post Office with its original, decorative cupola on top, is postmarked 1940. The building was constructed in 1937 with federal Treasury Department funds.

Post offices often help define the heart of our downtowns and serve as gathering places where local news is exchanged by townspeople crossing paths there.
