Rehoboth-Dewey Chamber announces 33rd Sandcastle Contest winners

This is Darrell O'Connor's 2011 entry in the Rehoboth Beach Sandcastle contest.  O'Connor explained, "This is a little tribute to my dear departed Dad.  Instead of my normal baseball cap, I wore the Panama hat he got in the Virgin Islands when he visited there last year.   I had my iPod on shuffle listening to tunes while I carved and as I was finishing the 'Danny Boy' lettering  Cat Stevens' "Father & Son" started playing.  Yikes!!!" The 33rd Annual Sandcastle Contest was held Aug. 6 in Rehoboth Beach. The winners of the contest are as follows:

People’s Choice Award for Adult sculpture went to Lynn and Heather Williams and Brandon Leyhe of Lewes – “Breakfast on the Beach” and to Erika and Helen Anderson, Baltimore, Md. – “Dog Park” in the Child 7-14 division.
