I wrote a few weeks ago when the Cape Gazette reported concerns some were having regarding the sufficiency of out-year revenue for the City of Rehoboth Beach. I then mentioned the high costs for the new city hall, the beach patrol headquarters and the seemingly excessive hiring package provided to the latest city manager.
Today, I read on the front page of the Cape Gazette about a $382,000 cost to defend the hiring of the city manager. It is remarkable such excesses continue to be reported with no obvious retribution to those making seemingly boneheaded decisions.
Then again, as the Nation's Summer Capital, such excesses in spending may be proper given the waste continually emanating from Washington. Seems we get what we elect. Is change due?
