Rehoboth native Keith Mack releases holiday classic 'Let It Snow'

December 23, 2015

Rock guitarist Keith Mack has released the timeless classic "Let It Snow" just in time to celebrate the holiday season! Mack, who grew up in Rehoboth Beach, moved to New York City in the early 1980s and was a member of the band Patty Smyth and Scandal. Scandal produced a string of top 40 hits including "The Warrior" and "Good-bye to You," leading to Gold and Platinum albums.

After Scandal, Mack went on to tour and record with Joe Cocker and Paul Young, among many others as well as recording on the definitive Joe Cocker Live CD for Capital Records. Scandal reunited in 2003 and has been touring ever since. Around that time Mack began his interest in fingerstyle guitar. He went on to release two solo acoustic fingerstyle guitar CDs.

In 2013 Mack began touring with Cyndi Lauper. They have since appeared on stages around the world including the annual "Home for the Holidays" show in New York in early December. The concert, which is a fundraiser for Lauper's charity True Colors, featured many guest artists including Boy George, Keb' Mo', Nathasha Bedingfield, country artist CAM and the legendary Valerie Simpson.

In 2014, Mack released his first solo CD featuring his vocals. "The Moment" includes the tracks "The Secret of Fire" and "Grace" (with a special guest vocal by Patty Smyth), and features all original songs co-written with Nashville great John Thompson.

Thompson, an award-winning writer has penned songs for Johnny Cash, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Bill Gaither, Jessy Dixon, Earl Scruggs, The Burrito Brothers and others. He also composed the 1983 Grammy-winning song "El Shaddai", which was named one of the Songs of the Century by the RIAA and the Gospel Song of the Decade (1980s) by Billboard Magazine.

Mack will be releasing new music in 2016, but for the holidays, he teamed up with legendary musician Johnny Neel (the Allman Bros) on the Hammond Organ and piano, Nate Grower (David Bromberg Band) on violin and Eran Asias (Patty Smyth) on drums to record "Let It Snow." Mack can also be heard on Patty Smyth’s new Holiday CD, "Come On, December," having co-written three songs for the project with Smyth including the title track.

"Let It Snow" is only available as a digital download and can be found on CD Baby but will soon be available on all outlets including iTunes and Amazon. For more information, go to www.keithmack.net.
