Reporting about Speak Out Against Hate meeting was accurate

April 3, 2026

Sussex Help wishes to express its gratitude to the management and reporting staff of the Cape Gazette for its coverage and reporting of the Speak Out Against Hate community meeting held March 12 at the Howard T. Ennis School in Georgetown.

At that meeting, a panel of community leaders, including police officials, reported on the activities of ICE in Sussex County. The reporting of the panel discussion by the Gazette was factual and accurate. Such reporting enables our community to understand precisely what the federal immigration authorities are about and enables our citizenry to both form opinions regarding the legality or not of such activity and perhaps, most importantly, to understand the human toll such activity is taking.

We look forward to the Gazette and all local media continuing to cover this issue as we also seek assistance from our citizens in helping our neighbors who have been targeted and victimized by ICE.
