Richard C. Bennett, retired steelworker
Richard C. Bennett, 64, of Ocean View, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, while spending time with his grandson. Born in Chester, Pa. June 15, 1947, he was the son of Clayton and Ethel Ebeling Bennett, who both survive him. He was a steelworker with the A.F. of L./C.I.O and worked in construction. He was a big fisherman, hunter and loved the typical life of Sussex County locals. He loved horseshoes and mechanical work. He loved spending time with his friends, and especially his family.
He was the father of two children: Linda Marley and her husband Paul of Wilmington and daughter Donna Lynch, who preceded him, passing away in 1997. He was also preceded by four siblings. He is survived by his brother Lee Bennett, and his wife Michelle of Dagsboro. He has six grandchildren: Timothy, Jonathan, Christopher, Crystal M., Erica and Paul. He has eight great-grandchildren, and several other extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, with Pastor Robert Hudson officiating, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. Friends may call one hour prior for visitation and viewing.
