Robert Charles Giles, retired pipe fitter

It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Robert Charles Giles, 73, of Millsboro, who passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2015. He was born May 24, 1942, in Chester, Pa., to Charles and Dorothy Giles.

Bob moved to Delaware in 1966 after serving four years in the U.S. Navy. He worked for DuPont Edgemoore Plant as a pipe fitter. He retired in 2000, and he and his wife Marietta moved to the beach.

He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and sharing quality time together. He loved country dancing with his wife, and hunting with his sons. He will be sadly missed and we will hold him in our hearts forever.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Marietta Giles; his daughter Michelle Hayes; and two sons Robert Giles Jr. (wife Mary Lou) and Wayne Giles (wife Missy Giles). He has five grandchildren, Tracey Sinnott, Kristen Giles, Kayli Giles, Jessie Giles, and Samantha Giles; and two great-grandchildren, Ava and Briella.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Long Neck United Methodist Church 32051 Long Neck Road Millsboro, Monday, Jan. 11, at 10 a.m., followed by a short service at the Veterans Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, at 11 a.m. Letters of condolence may be sent and guestbook signed at www.benniesmithfuneralhome.com.
