Robert Kreitzer, chief engineer emeritus
Robert “Bob” Kreitzer, 62, of Lewes, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones Dec. 16, 2023. He was born April 10, 1961, in Harrisburg, Pa., son of the late Andrew and Dorothy (Stoner) Kreitzer.
Bob had a lengthy career in the fire service starting in Lower Allen Township, Pennsylvania. After moving to Delaware, he joined Lewes Fire Department and became a life member in 2020. He held the positions of assistant engineer and chief engineer, and was an integral part of the apparatus committee for several years. He was most recently awarded chief engineer emeritus.
Bob was most proud of his driving career. He first started as a heavy equipment operator for Hempt Brothers Inc. in Camp Hill, Pa., and drove tour buses for Rohrer Bus Services in Drum, Pa. When he moved to Delaware, he worked for Pep-Up Inc. as a tractor-trailer driver and then took a position with Sussex County Division of Environmental Services as a heavy equipment operator.
Bob is survived by his fiancée, Kim Bulkilvish; his dear friends, Chatham Marsch (Carol) and Dale Magee (Amy); several cousins from Pennsylvania; and many close friends.
Funeral services with fireman’s honors will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 29, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where a viewing will begin at 9 a.m., at the funeral home. Last call rites will follow at Station 1, Lewes.
