Rosaries to be prayed at site of 60 white crosses Oct. 14

October 11, 2015

Monsignor Desmond Third Degree Council of the Knights of Columbus has placed a field of 60 white crosses on property adjoining St. Jude the Apostle church complex just off Route 1.

Each cross will commemorate more than a million babies aborted each year in the United States since the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade ruling. Rosaries will be prayed at the site at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14, prior to the Knights' monthly meeting.

Catholics observe October as Respect Life Month and Month of the Rosary. The rosary comes from tender devotion to Jesus and Mary in the 13th century. While reciting the Lord’s Prayer, the Hail Mary and the Glory Be, believers meditate on mysteries in the life of Jesus and his mother.

In addition to parishioners praying the rosary at home with family and friends, the parish has scheduled opportunities throughout the month for praying the rosary. Individuals and groups will pray in the chapel and at an outdoor statue of the Virgin Mary.
