Rose J. Goldman, Cadbury resident
Rose Josephine (Abbolone) Goldman passed away in Lewes April 14, 2015.
Born in Philadelphia in 1917 to parents of Irish and Italian immigrants, she graduated from West Philadelphia High School. After business school, Rose led a career in business accounting.
She met and later married David Goldman in 1940. Together they owned and operated D&M Radio in downtown Wilmington. During World War II, she and her father commuted every day from Philadelphia by train to manage the business while David was overseas. Raising two children, they lived in Brandywine Hills, then after retirement they moved to Park Plaza Condominiums where they continued to enjoy life together until David passed in 2003. She resided in Wilmington until 2009 when she moved to Cadbury At Lewes, where her daughter Connie and husband Jerry looked after her.
An accomplished pianist, she also spent hours crocheting many afghans which she took pleasure in distributing to her family members. She enjoyed travelling with her husband through Europe and spent summers at their home at the Jersey Shore. She was a dedicated Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Connie and husband Dr. Jerry Groll of Lewes, her son Arthur and wife Lynn of Wilmington; and her brother Albert Abbolone of Haverford, Pa. She is also survived by her grandchildren Eric Goldman and wife Julie of Yardley, Pa., Ryan Goldman and wife Jaime of Sunrise, Fla., Bryna and husband Chris Milionis of Wilmington, and Corey Groll and Kasey of Lewes. in addition, she leaves seven great-grandchildren, Jack and Sydney Goldman, Max, Micholas, and Talya Milionis, and Brenden and Emily Groll.
Services will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear. The family wishes to thank the staff of Cadbury Retirement Living in Lewes for their courteous and exceptional care.
