Roy Couch, retired manager
Roy Couch, 70, of Lewes, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family Saturday, March 17, 2012. Born Feb. 16, 1942, in Lexington, Ky., Roy was the second child of the late Mose and Evalee (Stacy) Couch.
Roy lived a life of determination. He excelled in basketball and in his retail professional life. A graduate of the University of Toledo, he began his retail career with Sears, but managed at various locations for J.C. Penney, Ethan Allen, and finally La-Z-Boy, where he managed 18 stores.
Roy met his wife, Janet (Nikazy), in Toledo, Ohio. They then spent 42 years together as husband and wife as well as best friends. Well traveled, they have lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Delaware and Maryland, finally retiring near to Lewes in 2007. Family was always first.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Janet: two daughters: Stacy E. Couch of Lewes and Megan Weyl of Newark; son Thomas Michael Couch of Statesboro, Ga. and his wife Carolyn; four grandchildren: Jackson Roy Weyl, Hannah, Patrick, and Molly Couch; sister Allene Anderson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Mose Jr. formerly of Avawam, Ky., and sister Joyce Winkler formerly of Temperance, Mich.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 24, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach. The family will welcome visitors beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
