RSVPs due Jan. 14 for Lewes DAR genealogical research program

January 7, 2026

The Col. David Hall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host its third program on genealogical research at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, at Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.

The featured speaker will be Dick Carter, a noted author and historian. Carter will discuss his personal genealogical journey, demonstrating how he used the Ancestry platform and other resources to identify a Revolutionary War patriot, making him eligible for membership in the Sons of the American Revolution.

Space is limited. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Jan. 14. To reserve a seat, send a name, phone number and email address to Mary Alice Kelly at makelly.dar@gmail.com.

Carter is the author of three books on Delaware history. From 1977 to 1987, he served as director of the Sussex County Historic Preservation Office. He currently volunteers as chair of the Delaware Heritage Commission and is helping to prepare for Delaware and America’s 250th anniversary events in 2026. Since 1987, Carter has also served on the staff of the Delaware Senate.

Genealogists from the DAR chapter will be available following Carter’s presentation to assist attendees with research on the Ancestry platform.
