Sacred Sounds session to be offered Sept. 24 in Rehoboth

Julie Fisher of Gifted Alchemy to guide healing
September 20, 2018

Julie Fisher of Gifted Alchemy will offer a session of Sacred Sounds, an opportunity to experience sound healing, at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 24, at SoulFire Collective, 176 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Cost is $20. Register at www.soulfirecollective.com.

Sacred Sounds is a form of guided meditation. Meditating with sound helps the brainwaves shift from an active thinking state into a slower relaxed state, thereby allowing the body to rest and heal. This shift typically happens within 5 to 10 minutes. Being in a slower brainwave state also helps the mind process information, gain insight, and receive inspiration.

“I describe it to my friends as a massage for my brain and spirit,” says Melanie Murray, who experienced a Sound Meditation with Fisher this summer.

During Sacred Sounds, participants rest in a comfortable position and listen as Fisher uses singing bowls, her voice, and other instruments to facilitate the desired slowing of brainwaves.

Sacred Sounds lasts approximately 40 minutes followed by a period of silence to sustain the achieved state of relaxation. Participants bring blankets, pillows, and padding to make themselves comfortable on the floor. They also bring a journal and pen to capture the guidance they receive. “I get great feedback from people who experience my Sound Meditation. They tell me how their pain spontaneously released, solutions were revealed, ideas surfaced, or that a need was met. They also tell me how relaxed, calm, and peaceful they feel - even the day after,” said Fisher.

Sacred Sounds host SoulFire Collective, owned by Brooke and Kat Wyman, offers a welcome environment to everyone who walks through the door. Even first-time guests feel instantly at home and leave feeling like old friends. SoulFire facilitates an experience where each person is given the space to both enjoy and grow through their individual practice. Kat Wyman said, “Offering Sacred Sounds at SoulFire is an absolute no-brainer, as it further supports our collective’s mental, spiritual, and soulful journeys. Julie brings incredible gifts of magic, peace, and healing each time she’s here.”

Julie Fisher is a Delaware native who has traveled throughout the U.S. and Hawai’i to study the healing arts. She has done most of her training in New York City, where she lived for 12 years after receiving a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University. Fisher studied under Yamuna Zake for seven years, trained with Alexandra Marquardt for four years, and experienced sound healing for the first time with Jodi Serota. Fisher’s natural gift for sound healing developed through her practice of therapeutic bodywork, which taught her how to use intuition to tailor sessions to meet clients’ needs.

“I know Sound Meditation may still be new to many people; however, we have all experienced how powerfully music touches and changes us. Think of Sound Meditation as a way to harness our profound relationship with music to guide us beyond limitation to who we are meant to be.”
