Samuel R. Calabrese Jr., devoted to family, friends

Samuel R. Calabrese Jr., 66, of Lewes, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, after a brief illness at Beebe Healthcare. He was born Oct. 6, 1955, in Utica, N.Y., son of the late Samuel R. Sr. and Helen (Brown) Calabrese.

Sam graduated from Utica Free Academy and from there earned an associate’s degree from Mohawk Valley Community College. He continued his education at Delta State University. Sam then began a lifelong career in medical sales as a material and purchasing manager.  He enjoyed being outside and active, particularly while playing tennis and golf. Sam was also an avid traveler and enjoyed wine tasting.  Above all, he cherished time spent with those he held most dear. Sam was a loving and devoted brother, uncle, and friend. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Sam is survived by his brothers: Michael Calabrese, David Calabrese (Cheryl), and Richard Calabrese; his nieces and nephews: Holly Burline, Tracy Calabrese, and Jordan Calabrese; his great-nieces and -nephews:  Emily Burline, Alyssa Burline, and Joseph Burline; his former wife and friend, Debi Calabrese; and his beloved feline companions: Louie and Frankie.

Services will be private.
