Santa Claus makes special visit to Rehoboth Beach

Most of Rehoboth Beach’s traditional holiday celebrations were canceled this year, but Santa Claus still took time out of his busy end-of-year schedule to spread some cheer Dec. 3. Hosted by Rehoboth Beach Main Street and escorted by Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, Santa looped his way around town for a few hours. Using as evidence the smiles on faces and the hot steps in people’s strides to catch a glimpse, children and adults universally enjoyed seeing the big man in red.

There weren’t the usual crowds associated with a Santa visit to Rehoboth, but there were some families who took advantage of the visit. Pictured are the Thompson family of Rehoboth Beach: 2-year-old Reid, dad Wade, 8-year-old Grove and 5-year-old Jade.
Even adults got into the spirit – more than one took selfies as the man in red drove by.

It’s tough for kids to tell Santa in person what they want this year for Christmas, which is why there was a place for letters.
No matter where Santa stopped, the crowd followed.
Santa drove through town for a few hours before making his way off to another location.

In addition to seeing Santa, a small bag of goodies was carefully handed out by Rehoboth Beach Main Street’s Jenny Burton.
