Later this year, SchagrinGas Company will be celebrating 88 years in service. One of the longest-running propane companies in the country, SchagrinGas provides products to Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Offering propane installation, fireplaces, HVAC, grills and even water conditioning, the family-owned company has stuck to its guns in regard to keeping a community-based approach to the variety of services.

“We stand behind what we do. Once we have a relationship with the homeowner, we want to do anything that we can for them,” said Marc Frey, sales manager of the Rehoboth location. “Not only do we sell the product, but we service it, too. We want to provide the most efficient product possible.”

In November 2019, the Rehoboth Beach location in Midway Shopping Center expanded its storefront to provide for a showroom, demonstrating an array of products from fireplaces to grills.

Frey stated that the intention of the showroom was to give the customers a way to see the products firsthand. SchagrinGas can give homeowners a view of how it may look in the home.

“If people move into a house and don’t like the fireplace and want to change it up, this is the place to go,” Frey said.

The showroom, housing more visible products than any other SchagrinGas location in Sussex County, can also provide more information and demonstrations on how the new products are both eco-friendly and efficient.

SchagrinGas’ addition is more than just a place to show off goods, though. It works as an opportunity to communicate with customers. No longer are the days of faceless calls to set up installations. SchagrinGas feels it’s important to build that relationship through actual interaction.

“When you have all of these new homeowners in the area, they like to come through the door and see a face,” Frey said. “That helps them build that trust and that community.”
