Seahawks boys’ laxers break even over the weekend

Sussex Academy downs Delmar 15-5, stalls against Saint Mark’s 12-6
April 27, 2026

Momentum from a dominating 15-5 win over Delmar April 24 wasn’t enough to propel a shorthanded Sussex Academy boys’ lacrosse team over a rising Saint Mark’s squad the next day.

Against Delmar, the lads spread the love around in the 10-point win for a complete victory. Sophomores Ty Jarrell (four goals, two assists) and Cooper Hagy (three goals, three assists) led the charge with six points each. Junior Gideon Sammons continued his strong string of play with four points (two goals, two assists), while Taco Meszaros joined Hagy and Jarrell in the hat trick club with a trio of goals. Freshman Kaleb Siok’s two tallies and juniors Armaan Chadha and Anthoy Tattoli’s solo tallies gave the Seahawks seven scorers in the contest. Tattoli also had two helpers.

Defensively, Sussex Academy was stout once again, led by their fearless leader Jackson Hagy, who picked up an assist to go along with his five saves in the cage. Sophomore Broden Huffman collected three saves in relief to end the 15-5 win.

Unfortunately for the Seahawks, the elder Hagy was not available for the game against Saint Mark’s April 25, as he is an EMT and had to attend a mandatory class. Huffman filled in valiantly, but he was tasked with stopping an offense that seems to be emerging from hibernation after a rough start to the season.

A dozen goals later, Sussex Academy was tagged with its second loss of the year, 12-6. It was only the second time all year the Seahawks surrendered double-digit strikes.

The younger Hagy led Sussex Academy with four goals, while juniors Armaan Chadha and Gideon Sammons each tickled the twine once. Sophomore Nick Warren and freshman Chase Watkins joined Sammons in the assist club.
