Domination at all three levels and in all phases of the game led to a 12-5 victory over Middletown for Sussex Academy boys’ lacrosse March 28.
Junior Jack Meszaros continued his dominion over the face-off X, while he and his fellow middies controlled the flow and pace of the game. When the Cavaliers did manage to get looks on goal, senior Jackson Hagy remained strong between the pipes with 13 saves.
In addition to keeping the offense off the board, the defense was getting in on the scoring action. Junior Cooper Lawson scored his first goal, at any level, when he streaked right down the heart of the field, saw he was uncontested and let the long-stick-angled shot dart right into the back of the cage.
Armaan Chadha, a defensive midfielder proving his worth on defense with some impressive dodges, put two into the net. Senior Chase Ballinger’s work at the top of the box resulted in four goals and two assists, leading the Seahawks in both categories. Senior Christian Schimmel and freshman Chase Watkins each scored one, giving the midfielders eight of Sussex Academy’s 12 goals.
On attack, Cooper Hagy put two more goals next to his name in the stat book, while Anthony Tattoli added a helper.
