Looking to find ways to give back to the community, Alltemp Air recently installed a commercial-grade dehumidifier at the Nanticoke Indian Museum outside Millsboro.

Alltemp Air has been locally owned outside Lewes since it was founded in 1994 by Dave and Lee George. Bailey George, son of the founders and the company’s vice president, said they were inspired to help the tribe after his sister Haley Clarke saw the Cape Gazette story of the museum’s roof being replaced by brothers James and Bob Grant, owners of Sun Building Group and Grant & Sons Roofing.

In that story, Gil “Smiling Grey Wolf” Johnson, a Nanticoke Indian Association Tribal Council member, said the dehumidifier in the crawl space beneath the museum had stopped functioning and the museum doesn’t have the operational budget to cover replacing it.

A short time later, Alltemp Air reached out to the tribe.

“We haven’t always been in the position to do community service projects, but we are now, and we thought this was a good way to get involved,” said Bailey on donating the dehumidifier. “We love this community and we’ve built this business based on family.”

Nanticoke Indian Chief Avery “Leaving Tracks” Johnson said the tribe is very appreciative and overwhelmed by Alltemp Air's act of deep-rooted kindness. The newly installed dehumidifier will allow the tribe to continue its mission of preserving its ancestry, heritage and culture by using the museum as a conduit to the public, Johnson said.

“We value every one of our supporters, and thanks to the thoughtfulness of Alltemp Air, we can be sure that our Nanticoke Indian Museum will be free of moisture and the ill effects that come with it,” said the chief.
