Anyone interested in directing a show in the 2020 season should submit a letter of intent by Sunday, Sept. 1, to matjead@comcast.net. All director submissions should include a letter of interest stating the desire to direct at Second Street Players, which show a person is submitting for and a basic concept for that show. The concept should include: the applicant’s vision for the show including why they want to direct, what they will bring to this show and what they hope audiences will take away from performances; technical aspects such as set, sound, lights, props and special effects; what directing challenges they foresee and how they propose to meet them; names of potential production staff members; and prior experience with managing a budget.

Applicants should include a list of all productions directed including theater, location and year. Relevant theater experience may be included as well as support materials and current contact information. Phone and email address are mandatory. Indicate any possible schedule conflicts during the preproduction months, tech week and show production dates. In general, productions audition approximately eight weeks prior to tech week. Applicants should know that rehearsals are held weeknights up until 10 p.m., Saturdays during the day and/or Sunday afternoons and evenings. The rehearsal periods for consecutive shows may overlap, and rehearsal dates will be coordinated between directors.

If an applicant has not directed at Second Street Players in the last five years, a list of three references familiar with the applicant’s past work should be included. The list must include each reference’s name, address, phone number and email address.

Second Street Players is a year-round community theater which performs at Riverfront Theater, 2 South Walnut St., on the south bank of the Mispillion River in scenic downtown Milford.
