Selbyville Middle student advances in VFW patriotic singing contest

April 25, 2022

VFW Post 7234 Auxiliary members congratulate Michaela Furman, who advances to the Auxiliary State Department of Delaware Level of the National VFW Auxiliary's Get Ready for the Red, White & Blue singing contest.

In her video entry, Furman sings "The Star-Spangled Banner,” a capella.

In an April 14 ceremony, VFW Post 7234 Auxiliary Youth and Patriotic Chair Cindy Weese and Auxiliary President Ellen Reilly presented Michaela with a participation certificate, a monetary gift from the Auxiliary, and a Post 7234 T-shirt.

The 13-year-old Selbyville Middle School student treated the evening dinner crowd to an a cappella rendition on the spot that was just beautiful.

The national winner will receive a $500 gift card. The second-place winner will receive a $300 gift card, and the third-place winner will receive $100.

“We applaud this talented and patriotic young lady, and wish her luck,” said Weese.
