U.S. Sen. Tom Carper took U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District Commander Lt. Col David Park, along with area mayors, on a tour of Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach Sept. 20.
At Bethany Beach, Caper highlighted the importance of replenishment to both Delaware’s residents and its economy. Carper stressed that extreme weather, fueled by climate change, poses risks to Delaware’s economy and coastal way of life.

On the beach, Sen. Tom Carper, with Lt. Col. David Park, said that the replenishment of beaches and strengthening the dunes are addressing the symptom of the problem, which is that the ocean is rising.
