Seniors should be absolved from taxes

November 15, 2019

The letter from Sara Rosen, who wrote in response to Doug Kendall’s letter about seniors after 65 years of age, is ridiculous. We seniors have paid more than our share of school taxes in our lifetime, and to get a break from Delaware is a right that we deserve, especially now when a lot of the money is used for artificial turf and other frivolous items.

I must say that Sara Rosen is either well off, married into money and also from another state. Probably not a full-time resident either. Well, if the state needs more school tax money, then get it from all of the second homeowners from surrounding states.

Double out-of-staters’ taxes till they become full-time residents. They buy their second homes here mostly due to their own state taxes that are so much more than ours.

Why should Delaware not reap from that? I am retired, and I paid my share of school taxes for over 65 years, and I feel that the younger group should pay theirs until 65.

Just making things meet.
