Sharkmobile sure to turn heads

Art Wilson’s one-of-kind dune buggy adorned with great white he calls Bruce
July 12, 2019

Everywhere Art Wilson of Clayton drives, he turns heads. His Meyers Manx Volkswagen was customized by legendary Bruce Meyers, who is credited with creating the dune buggy. Meyers, 94, lives in California. Two years ago, Wilson added the 110-lb. fiberglass Delaware First Shark named Bruce to the top of the dune buggy, which is outfitted with everything needed for driving on the beach. The shark is modeled after a great white male tracked off the Delaware coast in July 2017. Hilton was 12 feet long and weighed more than 1,300 pounds.

Wilson said 95 percent of people who walk up to see his dune buggy take a photo. He drives thousands of miles each summer along the coastal area and as far away as Annapolis.
