Silver pendant jewelry-making class set May 30

Four-session statement ring series begins June 6

Cape Region residents and visitors can get creative by learning to make their own silver jewelry at Heidi Lowe Gallery. A selection of classes offers options that are are great to do individually or with family and friends. Everyone will leave class with a finished, handmade piece of jewelry.

“The classes are designed for fun and success, and are perfect for beginners,” said gallery owner Heidi Lowe.

Participants in the Small Pendant with a Faceted Stone Setting class, set for 6 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, May 30, will learn various metalworking techniques to make a small silver pendant with a colorful faceted stone. Cost is $175 including materials.

The Statement Ring option is a four-session class that encourages creativity and individuality in design. Students will learn the basics of metalsmithing, design and more to create their own hollow silver statement ring with a set stone. Skills such as filing, sanding, soldering and polishing will be covered, as well as forming, roller printing and stone setting. Classes will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Thursdays, June 6, 13, 20 and 27, and the cost is $400, including materials.
