Skate the Cape Shred Festival slides through state park

November 12, 2021

The Skate the Cape Shred Festival returned to Fort Miles in Cape Henlopen State Park Nov. 5-7 following a year off.

The event combines longboard skateboard competitions with live-music concerts and camping. The event featured downhill racing, longest slide, longest jump, best trick and the hippie jump, among other events.

Skate the Cape started in 2012 and has grown over the years to include live music. In 2019, attendees participated in a beach cleanup with the Surfrider Foundation Delaware chapter.

Faceplant Boardriders and Rob Wheeler organize and host the event.
